What does it mean to be a Board Certified Attorney?

Certification is the highest level of evaluation by The Florida Bar of competency and experience within an area of law. Certification also recognizes professionalism and ethics in practice. Being a Board Certified Attorney means you are recognized for special knowledge, skills and proficiency in various areas of law and professionalism and ethics in practice. Only about 6 percent of eligible Florida Bar attorneys are board certified in at least one area.

What does it mean to be a Board Certified Attorney in multiple areas?

Michael L. Addicott is the only Florida Board Certified Attorney who (as of Aug. 30, 2013) currently holds certification as a specialist in all three of the following areas of law:

• Marital and Family Law (certified since 1993)
• Civil Trial Law (certified since 1993)
• Business Litigation (certified since 2000)
